At Disney’s D23, over the weekend, we were given our first look at the cast of Star Wars: Rogue One. In a promotional image released by Disney, we get our first look at the resistance fighters planning to steal the blue prints for the Death Star. The image also gives us a look at who will be joining Director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Monsters) in the Gary Whitta (Book of Eli, After Earth) written Rogue One. Disney has confirmed that Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, and Jian Wen will all have major roles in the film. While Tudyk’s part has yet to be confirmed, Disney has stated that he will be playing an unspecified motion capture role. This casting, coupled with the Gareth Edwards direction, has taken Star Wars fans excitement to a whole new level. The world will get to see if this amazing ensemble can not only steal the blue prints to the one of the most notorious space stations of all time, but also the hearts and minds of the Star Wars faithful when the film launches on December 16, 2016.
